Footage of an "alien like" creature crawling through the ruined forests of a palm oil plantation made its rounds on social media recently, leading some to label it the "Malaysian Chupacabra". The truth, sadly, was more frightening - it was a Malayan Sun Bear - ill, emaciated, hairless and in a lot of distress. What could have caused the sun bear to be in such pain? We catch up with biologist Wong Siew Te, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to find out his take on the video, and to find out how things are progressing at the conservation centre.
