Documenting Penang’s Tamil Muslims

Khoo Salma Nasution’s new book, “The Chulia in Penang: Patronage and Place-Making around the Kapitan Kling Mosque 1786–1957,” documents the role Tamil Muslims played in the history of Penang. The book was shortlisted for the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) Book Prize 2015. It did not win, but bagged the convention’s colleagues’ choice award. Khoo Salma joins us to talk about the book.
