Bypass surgery and angioplasty are two of the most widely-used treatments for coronary artery disease, and they have a long track record in medicine. Bypass surgery was first done in 1960, while the first coronary angioplasty was done in 1977. What are the differences between these procedures, and how do doctors determine which procedure is more suitable for individual patients?
