When you walk into a pharmacy or supermarket, you will encounter a wide variety of probiotic products that tout all kinds of health benefits. While it is known that probiotics play an important role in our health, many of us do not know what kind and how much of it we need. President of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia Dr Tee E Siong, and chairperson of a newly-launched Probiotics Education Programme, helps us to make sense of the hype.
