Gene Doping

Rather than injecting performance enhancing drugs, gene doping tweaks cells so that they produce the substances naturally. This makes it undetectable using standard tests. The World Anti-Doping Agency has decided to introduce the first gene test in sport to identify the presence of synthetic genes for the erythropoietin hormone for the Olympics. Geneticist Dr Arif Anwar explains what gene doping is all about.
