Doctor in the House: Better Care For Obesity

With non-communicable diseases like heart disease and diabetes skyrocketing in Malaysia, are we adequately tackling obesity as a public health issue? Unfortunately, we don’t seem to be making any meaningful progress when it comes to preventing or managing obesity, apart from shaming individuals for poor lifestyle choices. How can we implement more effective cross-sectoral policies and a whole-of-society approach to create a healthier and more supportive environment? This World Obesity Day, we speak to Dr Sivarajan Ramasamy, Public Health Medicine Specialist from the N. Sembilan State Health Dept, about the complexities of obesity.
