Doctor in the House: Malaysia Says ‘No’ to Ivermectin

The Ministry of Health Malaysia has released the results of its study on ivermectin, which found that the drug does not prevent patients with COVID-19 symptoms from progressing into stage four or five, and thus it should not be used to treat COVID-19. Emeritus Prof PT Thomas, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Taylor’s University, puts on his pharmacy and toxicology hat to help us understand the results of this study. Raja Eileen Soraya, Immediate Past President of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia, joins him to look at the gaps in enforcement that enable people to sell ivermectin on chat groups and online.
