Doctor in the House: Why COVID-19 Patients Lose Their Sense of Smell & Taste

The loss of the sense of smell and taste was discovered early on as a unique symptom of COVID-19 and many patients reported experiencing this as well. But why is this a symptom of COVID-19? How long does it take for patients to regain these senses after they’ve recovered? Consultant urologist Dr George Lee is joined by Dr Jeyasakthy Saniasiaya, consultant ENT surgeon from UMMC to answer these questions and take a look at the latest studies involving the ear, nose and throat on this show.
