Mind the (Health) Gap #1: Primary Care As the “First Line of Defence”

Malaysia’s healthcare system has been ranked as among the best in the world, but a great healthcare system means nothing if people can’t access healthcare services. On this first episode of our new series, we go back to the starting point with access to primary care. What does the state of primary care look like in Malaysia? What role can - or should - family doctors and community pharmacists play to tackle the burden of disease in the community? Family medicine specialist Dr Emma Fazilah Zulkifli, and co-chairperson of the Community Pharmacy Chapter of the Malaysian Pharmacists Society Datin Mariani Ahmad Nizarudin joins us to share their experiences.
