NCD Chronicles #12: “I Prefer Not To Die Suddenly” (Blocked Arteries, And A Close Call)

Trim, fit and active, Farid Emran does not look like your average heart patient. And yet, at the age of 49, he discovered that he had five blockages in his arteries, and was given the choice of open-heart surgery or angioplasty. In conjunction with World Heart Day in September, this episode of NCD Chronicles features Farid’s story of how he came to terms with this shocking diagnosis, his family history of heart problems, and conquering his fear of medical interventions. Meanwhile, consultant cardiologist Dr Al Fazir Omar, from Cardiac Vascular Sentral KL (CVSKL), will be changing the way we think about cholesterol and heart disease, with recent advances in therapies.
