Pandemic Preparedness #1: Where’s the Best Country To Be In During the Pandemic?

A year ago, COVID-19 was a disease that had no name, largely contained to China - the original epicentre, and countries were still figuring out the best strategies to curb the spread of the disease, from doing the bare minimum to the strictest of lockdowns. Now, we know the SOPs to follow, and we have several vaccine candidates that are being rolled out. But the year has taken a toll on almost every country as global cases pass 80 million and the death toll is almost at 2 million. For the first episode of our Pandemic Preparedness mini series, we are joined by epidemiologist Prof Dato’ Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud from Universiti Malaya to dissect the strategies that worked and didn’t in curbing the spread of the virus, and where are the best places to be in during this pandemic.
