Public Health: Time Is Brain, But Are Our Stroke Services Up To Par?

There is good news when it comes to stroke - deaths due to stroke have reduced over the years, due to the introduction of stroke units in hospitals, and better control of stroke risk factors among patients. But stroke remains the third leading cause of death in the country. Our biggest challenge is still the limited availability of more major hospitals that have a dedicated stroke unit, as well as low availability of clot-busting treatments. Consultant neurologist Dr Toh Tsun Haw, and NASAM’s Head of Rehab Tracy Chan, join Azrul Mohd Khalib, CEO of Galen Centre for Health & Social Policy to discuss what more needs to be done for stroke care in the country, including post-stroke support.
