Last week, the Malaysian Academic Movement, better known by its Malay acronym, Gerak, held a town hall session with Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik. Among the issues discussed were Gerak’s 10-point proposal to bring academic freedom, excellence and meritocracy back to local universities. We speak to Gerak's chairman Professor Zaharom Nain about the town hall’s outcome.
