Deeper Than Indigo

Dr Jenny Balfour-Paul has researched, lectured and written about indigo for over 20 years. Her first book "Indigo in the Arab World" - based on firsthand fieldwork conducted for her PhD - was published in 1997. She is a Honorary Research Fellow in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at Exeter University. Her most recent book “Deeper Than Indigo,” is part memoir and part biography of the 19th century indigo planter and explorer Thomas Machell.
