Revoking a Heritage Site Gazette - What Does It Mean?

Just last week, local dailies published the notification that Jabatan Warisan Negara was seeking to revoke the designation of the Old Building of Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTIC) as a heritage site. This raised many concerns as the notice cited Paragraph 31 (2)(a) of the National Heritage Act, which does not appear to provide powers to revoke a heritage site gazette. Joining us to discuss this issue is Elizabeth Cardosa, the President of Badan Warisan Negara, who will also explain the National Heritage Act in greater detail, and the significance of the Old Building of MaTIC to our country's culture and history.
