US President-Elect Donald Trump announced last week his intention to withdraw the US from the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement. With the TPP, a regional trade deal involving 12 countries representing 40 percent of the global economy, seemingly dead in the water, we speak to economist Firdaos Rosli about what this means for Malaysia and whether the China-led alternative, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP, will now take precedent.
