The River of Life Programme

Last month, local resident Jeffrey Lim discovered a large number of dead fish along the Klang River. The source of the dead fish was traced further upstream, past Kampung Pauh along the Gombak River. This is worrying considering people eat and sell the fish they catch along the Gombak and Klang Rivers. We discussed the matter with Dr. K Kalithasan, the Coordinator of the RIVER Care Programme at the Global Environment Centre, who is also involved in the River of Life programme, which is an Entry Point Project in the Greater Kuala Lumpur/ Klang Valley National Key Economic Area (NKEA), under the Economic Transformation Programme.
