Her career thus far has been truly remarkable and admirable – she started as a public servant, then a town planning officer, to Seberang Prai Municipal Council president and then as Mayor of Penang, and currently, the first Asian woman and Malaysian as an Executive Director of a key UN agency. Her Excellency Dato’ Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Executive Director of UN-Habitat, joins us to share her story of working hard and getting where she is today, despite growing up in an impoverished environment, and also how she is leading the UN-Habitat to tackle the global issue of rapid urbanization and its consequences.
