The federal government recently announced that minimum wage will be set at RM1,050 across the country, with the policy set to take effect on January 2019. Carmelo Ferlito, an economist and senior fellow at the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), explains why he thinks this is a misguided move - if increasing the wages of low-skilled workers is the ultimate goal.
