De-institutionalization of Children

There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating the negative effects of institutionalisation on children, which includes poor psycho-social development as well as lower IQ later in life. Sir Roger Singleton is the managing director of Lumos, which was founded by JK Rowling to end the systematic institutionalisation of children in Europe. Datin Elya heads the de-institutionalisation project at OrphanCARE. We get their thoughts on alternatives to orphanages.
