Is Sustainable Development Possible?

According to the UN’s World Commission on Environment and Development, sustainable development is defined as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” But how do we define the needs of the present generation when all countries are striving to expand and grow their economies? We’ll pose this question to the president of the Science Council of Asia, Prof. Dr. Nordin Hasan, who is also a fellow at the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
