The Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF) has noted that there was a marked increase in the number of public complaints about content on the Internet and other media content in recent months.
In light of this, we invited the Executive Director of CMCF, Mustafa Fazil, for an interview on the Bigger Picture to explain how the public can file complaints, what measures are taken ensuing a complaint, and what constitutes a complaint. Meera Sivasothy also probes whether or not recent political adverts in the run-up to the GE13 are in any way breaching the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code, and whether complaints can be made over the SMS spamming by political parties.
If you have come across electronic media content such as advertising on TV or radio which you have found to be offensive or unethical according to CMCF's Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code, you can lodge a complaint on the CMCF website, http://www.cmcf.my/make-complaint-0. The Content Code can be accessed online here: http://www.cmcf.my/onlineversion/part-1-introduction.
