This notion may sound harmless and ideal on the surface, but it gave rise to "grammar wars" among educators in Malaysia and around the world. Dr Derek Irwin, Head of School of English at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and grammar enthusiast, explains the different approaches to teaching grammar.
