For a brief few hours yesterday (Dec 9), Malaysians celebrated winning Best National Costume at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant - until it was clarified that it was Miss Philippines who had actually won. So we’re discussing the idea of a national costume, and whether a country can truly be represented by clothing.
