A few days ago, local actress Ellie Suriati Omar claimed that YouTubers should be asked to apply for a license before they’re allowed to produce content. She said that there are many YouTubers who criticise local films, which then negatively impacts the film’s box office potential. But does it hold water? We discuss what the role of a film critic is, particularly in the local industry.
