‘But Boss, It’s A Public Holiday!’

Yesterday, our new Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced Monday as a public holiday. Similarly during the election, the 18th and 19th of November were public holidays to allow Malaysians to go home and vote. The question for many employees is: are these public holidays applicable to them? Or is it just an option for employers to decide on their holidays? We speak to Ivan Aaron Francis, Associate Lawyer at Thomas Philip Advocates & Solicitors and Canna Tan, a senior HR Manager.
