Rough Waters and Ripple Effects: Navigating Port Congestion

Malaysia's port and freight industry, particularly Port Klang, has faced significant challenges recently due to local and global dynamics. As a key maritime hub in Southeast Asia, Port Klang has seen increased congestion, with ships taking up to nine hours to dock. This congestion is influenced by global supply chain disruptions, geopolitical conflicts like the Red Sea issue, and evolving trade policies.

Helping us in this conversation today to better understand the reasons and ripple effects of these congestion, as well as uncover how Port Klang is navigating these turbulent waters, and the broader implications for Malaysia's economy and global trade connections is Captain K. Subramaniam, General Manager of the Port Klang Authority.
