AMD - From Underdog To World Champion

In the not too distant past, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) were the clear underdog to their major competitor Intel in the semiconductor world. Some tech reviewers had even said that it wouldn’t be too long before we would be saying goodbye to AMD forever. Then seemingly out of nowhere AMD launched a series of processors aimed at data centres under the name EPYC. And indeed Epic they were, they were cheaper, faster, and easier to implement than their competition. This year Rich Bradbury managed to get over to San Francisco to see the live launch of the 2nd generation of AMDs’ EPYC datacenter chip, which pulls no punches about its goals - to wipe its competition out. And how will it do that? How about starting off by breaking 80 world records?
