Virtual Tourism

Dr Rokhshad Tavakoli, Senior Lecturer from Taylor’s University

31-Oct-19 11:30

Virtual Tourism

Virtual Reality (VR) is expected to bring about great changes in social reality - and tourism in particular. Virtual technology is capable of providing very complex multi-sensorial experiences in virtual worlds as well as in virtual tourist destinations and has been suggested as a substitute for actual travel and tourism products. The demand for virtual tourism has increased as people have grown wise to the benefits it provides, such as cost-saving, time-saving and helping to address environmental concerns. Dr Rokhshad Tavakoli a senior lecturer from Taylor’s University who is leading research on “Virtual Tourism in 3D Virtual Worlds” focuses on discovering an in-depth understanding of the behaviour, perspectives and thoughts of women tourists during a virtual reality journey - the impact of new technologies on the lives of women and the practice of feminism in cyberspace; also known as Cyberfeminism.
