Navi Pillay: Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

We've either heard or read about the story of South Africa during the apartheid era but Navi Pillay lived through it. She is someone who has accomplished many 'firsts' in South Africa. She was the first woman to start a law practice in her home province of Natal in 1967 and the first non-white woman and first attorney to serve in the High Court of South Africa. She then went on to become the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She did all that while being 'trebly disadvantaged' by race, class, and gender. A south African of Indian Tamil descent. The daughter of a bus driver. Now retired, she still travels the world spreading messages of justice and peace. She shares her story with us today.
