Everyone’s A Critic - Letters To What We Want

Pandemic art has taken many forms; in artist Sharon Chin’s Letters To What We Want, it is an amalgamation of writing, visual art, correspondence, and personal stories. The idea behind it is deceptively simple: a series of letters written by Sharon’s friends, responding to the question, “What do you want in 2021 and beyond?”. The format of the response was left open, as well as the choice to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym. In return, Sharon sends them one of her artworks. We review the project, and talk about the power of these personal narratives as a way of reflecting on and remembering a time that has been like no other.

Everyone's A Critic is jointly presented with CENDANA. For updates on Malaysian arts and culture, visit them on Facebook and Instagram.
