Flatlined Ambitions

There've been many documentaries and articles about the 'lying flat' and 'let it rot' phenomenon in China, in which the younger generation is rejecting long working hours and the constant hustle, and opting instead to live within their means and not strive for more. There are many economic and structural problems behind this issue, but it also seems to be representing a larger cultural shift. And that had us considering how we think about ambition, and the ways that it can shift over time, and through generations. So we explored that, and asked listeners a simple question: are you ambitious? We also hear clips from China’s Slacker Youths: Why They Went From 'Lying Flat' To 'Let It Rot' and Why Youth Unemployment Is Surging In China.
