Will Higher Fines Prevent Businesses From Polluting Rivers?

The government has unveiled plans to enforce higher fines on businesses convicted of polluting any water sources, specifically increasing it by 2,500 times. This means RM5 million from RM2,000 of its current rate. We first get into this by discussing whether this increased fine would be effective, and what further mechanisms we need to curb this issue. Then, we explore the importance of clean rivers for our daily lives.
