The Malaysian Institute of the Australian National University (ANU) and IDEAS Malaysia recently held a joint-conference aimed at understanding Malaysia from a comparative lens beyond the context of national policies. We speak to Ross Tapsell, director at the ANU's Malaysia Institute for his insights to how we can have a better grasp of Malaysia’s issues.

· Did Tun Dr Mahathir cheat Batu Puteh?: Batu Puteh RCI has accused Dr Mahathir of deceiving the Cabinet in 2018 to allow the sovereignty of Batu Puteh to be transferred to Singapore with no opposition. We discuss this case with lawyer New Sin Yew.
