Top 5 at 5: What Went Down at Prabowo and Anwar's Meeting

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has made his first working trip to Malaysia, focusing on strengthening Malaysia-Indonesia ties. Dr. Ho Ying Chan, assistant professor at the School of Politics and International Relations at University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus weighs in.

Other stories we covered:

· African Swine Flu reemerges in Sabah: A herd of pigs in Keningau, Sabah, have been found to be carrying this disease. Though this case is related to domesticated pigs, there are also concerns over how it’ll affect wild pigs as the disease almost wiped these species off in 2021. To understand the threat that the disease poses, we reached out to Sui Peng Heon, a mammal field researcher from Sabah who previously worked on Babi Hutan Project Borneo.

· Salary disputes at Suhakam go public: An internal gripe over salary hikes, unequal evaluations and Suhakam’s exclusion from the SSPA scheme has prompted Suhakam to push back against these allegations. However, this highlights the struggles in unionisation and seeking answers to employee grievances. S. Arutchelvan, Deputy Chairperson of Parti Sosialis Malaysia weighs in on this.

· National Service 3.0 begins today: 150 youths start their training at an army regiment camp in Kuala Lumpur despite varying responses to the program from its conception. Muhammad Abu Kadir Mubarak Ali from the Malaysian Youth Council speaks about the hopes for PLKN 3.0 and the wellbeing of the trainees involved.

· Is Harimau Malaya unfairly favoured?: Budget 2025 allocates a RM30 million investment towards the national football team, raising concerns that other sports are being neglected. We speak to Haresh Deol, sports journalist and editor of Twentytwo13 for his thoughts on whether other sports deserve a chance in the spotlight.
