Demonetisation - Is India Ready?

In early November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government made the decision to demonetise 500 and 1,000 rupee notes -- two of India’s most used rupee denominations. Many Indian citizens have been in panic mode, as they were surprised by Modi’s abrupt announcement.

The move aims to curb black money, tackle counterfeit notes, and restrict finance for subversive activities.

BFM dissects the demonetisation process in India, and whether or not this ‘maha-yajna’ - or great sacrifice - against the ills of corruption will be effective.

This is a report by Wan Irdina.
