Plastic associations disagree with NGO's which have suggested an imposition of a "plastic waste ban"to stop the problem of illegal plastic smuggling.

The Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA) and the Malaysia Plastic Recyclers Association (MPRA) make a case for not having a total ban on plastic waste imports.
