Last week, New York Community Bank (NYCB) revealed losses of USD$252 million in the fourth quarter due to exposure to the commercial real estate market. Could there be a contagion effect to other regional banks, reminiscent of the 2023 collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank? We discuss the implications with Herman Chan with Bloomberg Intelligence.
