Julian Assange And The New York Times Problem

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is facing extradition to the US to answer to charges of espionage. He’s been granted a temporary reprieve by the UK courts, which last week rejected the extradition bid, but observers say the decision is a Pyrrhic victory for freedom of the press. We discuss the implications of the case for journalists and the media with Peter Greste, veteran journalist and UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communications at the University of Queensland. He’s also the founder of the Alliance for Journalists’ Freedom (AJF).
