US Elections: States Choose the President

Although both Malaysia and the US have federal systems, there are key differences in the way federal-state relations are governed in the two countries. The decentralized nature of the US federal system and the independence of states explains why national popularity doesn’t really matter when it comes to electing the next President. With three weeks to go until the US elections on November 3rd, we discuss the US electoral college and potential implications of a pandemic election with political experts.
