Malaysiakini Banks on Media Council for Media Freedom

Following the change in government, Malaysia scored higher on media freedom — but there’s still a long way to go. We speak to Steven about ways to institutionalise media freedom, including the Malaysiakini proposal for a media council. We also discuss ownership structure of media companies and transparency in journalism.

Also, do listen to our podcast exclusive where Steven takes on questions from the civil society and the business community, including, why did Malaysiakini cover the story on ex-PM Najib's cat?
