In response to strong calls for wider protection for gig workers, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has promised to meet with delivery operators to iron out issues with low wages. But does more need to be done to improve the welfare of workers in the informal sector? We speak to Donovan Cheah, labour lawyer and partner at Donovan & Ho, to find out the challenges in enacting laws and policies to protect gig workers.
