The Prime Minister has affirmed that racial quotas for public university admissions will remain, but that opportunities will also be ensured for non-Bumiputera high achievers. Has the quota system outstayed its usefulness and is meritocracy the ideal solution? We discuss these issues with Dr. Lee Hwok Aun of the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute.
