The Malaysian ringgit began its current strengthening in July 2024 and has strengthened more than 12% in the space of about 2 months, making it the best-performing currency in the region this year so far. Julia Goh, Senior Economist at UOB analyses where this strength is coming from following the recent US Federal Reserve rate cut and China's announcement of stimulus measures.
