The Malaysian government is reporterdly looking into laws that would compel tech giants like Meta and Google to pay local media companies for news content. Australia pioneered this arrangement in 2021 while Canada recently followed suit last month. Prof. Bradley Freeman of Sunway University shares with us the case for this type of legislation.
