A New Post-Election World

For our post-election week show, we go over some political topics - the fall of the Berlin Wall and its effect on the people, the experiences of a first time voter and the outcomes of transitions in power like the one we’ve had recently. Kam recalls the history of East Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, when media censorship stopped being an issue, reflecting on the voters of Malaysia. Rahmah is excited to be voting for the first time, being part of this momentous occasion in history where the ruling coalition of Malaysia was overthrown after being in power for over 60 years. Uma expresses his gratitude that the current transition of power between Barisan Nasional and the opposition went by without a hitch, recalling the days leading up to the election and the calm before the storm that never came.
