Should The Merdeka Tournament Be Revived?

The now defunct Merdeka Tournament which was first held in 1957, over the years has been generally seen to have lost its prestige as a major regional tournament. There are recent talks and glimmers of hope for reviving the competition, but the issue still remains on whether the tournament can return to its glory years.

On the show this week, we have N Thanabalan to take us back on a ride to the golden years of Malaysian football and to share his fond memories of the 1968 Merdeka Tournament. Nicknamed the "Liliput", he went on a scoring spree netting six goals in eight matches, and played the final againsts Burma on the eve of his wedding. He also talks about the perils of modern-day football and how the current crop of national players should "never sell the game".
