Gamers vs Crypto Miners - The Battle for GPUs

What was once an item that’s appealing only among PC gamers and multimedia content creators is now the object of desire for crypto miners too. Ever since the cryptocurrency and mining boom, the two groups are now constantly competing for that workhorse component - graphics card. While the situation was not ideal, they were both serving one another well. That was until the pandemic came and changed the situation. With silicon shortage compounding the problem and scalpers taking full advantage of the limited amount of graphics cards available, gamers and crypto miners are now at loggerheads, with one side having a bigger advantage than the other. We unpack the story and see whether there’s any ray of hope for PC gamers moving forward.
