Dain Said

Dain Said is a revered filmmaker who has made a name for himself here in Malaysia with his acclaimed film, Bunohan, which premiered at the 36th Toronto International Film Festival and has won 8 awards at the 25th Malaysian Film Festival including the Big Five: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Story, Best Screenplay and Best Actor/Actress.

 

He graduated from Westminster University in London and has never stopped being behind the camera since starting off with commercials back in the early days. His media installations have been screened at the Biennale of Sydney and the University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver. In 2007, he was a recipient of the Nippon Foundation’s Asian Public Intellectual fellowship, during which time he researched the role of films and propaganda in Indonesian history.

 

He is currently finishing his next film, Interchange to be released in 2016 starring, Iedil Putra, Shaheizy Sam, Nicholas Saputra and Prisia Nasution.
