Danial Naim, Barista

18-Nov-15 20:00

Danial Naim

Every morning, as Malaysia’s workforce slowly wakes up to start the day, an average cup of joe on the side is the essential armament for us. But the daily 3-in-1 does not accentuate the taste buds as much as a skilled pull from an experienced barista. That’s where Danial Naim comes in.

Danial Naim is a 26 year old business partner and head baristas for two prominent cafes in KL. One for Podgy and The Banker and the League of Captain. A KL-ite born and bred, he went off to Melbourne for a degree in Banking & Finance and Journalism.

During his uni days, Danial was working part time in a few cafes before being noticed, and was taught the basics in making the black brew. After two years in an audit firm, Danial jumped ship to chase his passion. He started in Podgy and The Banker before being contacted by Pestle & Mortar to form a new cafe and inviting him to be a main partner for the venture.

For a sustainable cafe culture in Malaysia, Danial wishes to found his own training centre for baristas, more local coffee farms and roasters in the future.

For the record, Danial scored 23!
